ABSTRACTBackground: The infant mortality rate is 24/1,000. According to data from Lampung province in 2022 (76.76%), infants under 6 months old are still below the Ministry of Health's target of exclusive breastfeeding of up to 80%. One of the government's efforts to promote breastfeeding in Indonesia is to provide medical breastfeeding counseling services.
Methods: To evaluate the implementation of breastfeeding advice, studies should be conducted that examine input, process, and output components. This study is a qualitative study using a case study strategy. This survey was conducted at RSIA Puri Adhya Paramita Central Lampung 2022. Data collection was conducted through document review, observation of breastfeeding advice and infrastructure implementation, in-depth interviews and focus group discussion. The data analysis used is thematic analysis.
Results: Research indicates that the input components are not optimal, such as lack of human resources, lack of follow-up care after training, lack of personal counselor involvement, lack of program reinforcement, and weak supervision. The output component is still not good, as the number of clients who receiving breastfeeding conseling and care was not recorded.
Conclusion: Breastfeeding guidelines are still not perfact. A bad input component indicates that the process component did not perform optimally, while the output component didn’t achieve the expected results.
